Kurzbeschreibung des Projekts:

Political Participation of Young People in Europe - Development of Indicators for Comparative Research in the European Union

EUYOUPART started in February 2003 and aims to develop a high-quality instrument fort he comparative measurement of political participation of young people (aged 15-25 years) in Europe.

We seek to make a methodological contribution to the state of the art in comparative measurement, based on a variety of work steps. These include e.g. the following:

  • secondary analysis of existing international datasets
  • a qualitative research phase, exploring the meaning of key-terms such as "democracy" and "participation" to young people and analysing "biographies of participation"
  • development of a questionnaire fort he comparative measurement of political participation, based on the previous work steps, and pre-test
  • quantitative survey with young people in eight European countries
  • data analysis and presentation of the results at a symposium in Brussels (July 14th, 2005)

EUYOUPART is among the top 10 projects in the 3rd call/5th framework programme of the European Commission. Its scientific consortium consists of nine interdisciplinary partner institutes from eight European countries.
