The Austrian Institute for Youth Research was the only research institution in Austria that has researched youth topics systematically and regularly for decades. It was founded in 1960 by Youth Organizations and was established with the explicit goal of enhancing cooperation between youth work (open and syndicated), youth politics and youth research on different levels. OeIJ is a registered association that is both non-partisan and non-profit; membership is granted to Austrian youth organizations.
