European Group for Integrated Social Research (EGRIS)
EGRIS is a research network consisting of partners in Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. The main activities concern the changing structures and processes of social integration in the context of new trajectories between youth and adulthood as well as the consequences for education and welfare.
EGRIS was founded in 1993 as a small European research network under the name of "Europäische Gesellschaft für Regionale und Internationale Sozialforschung" (European Society for Regional and International Social Research). The co-ordinating institution is the "Institut für regionale Innovation und Sozialforschung" (Institute for Regional Innovation and Social Research, IRIS e.V.), a private German research and consultancy institute located in Hechingen and Tübingen. Since the Austrian Institute for Youth Research had been co-ordinating with EGRIS partners in a number of European projects, and shares its goals and contents, the accession to the EGRIS network in 2006 was the logical step to take.
