Brief Description of the Project:
The "Austrian Study of Youth Values 2006" („Österreichische Jugend-Wertestudie 2006") is a socio-scientific study that aims to show the changes in young people's attitudes since 1990 by incorporating two prior surveys exploring the values of 14 to 24-year olds in 1990 and 2000. The study is being conducted by the OeIJ in co-operation with the Institute of Practical Theology (Institut für Praktische Theologie) of the University of Vienna. The method of data collection included a nation-wide representative survey of 1,231 young participants as well as focus group discussions.
Bearing the characteristics of a replicative study, the results can be easily compared with the two prior investigations. This enables the researchers to discern relevant structures and backgrounds as well as changes in the attitudes of adolescents in Austria. Main subjects are family, friends, school and job training, spare time, ethical and religious attitudes, and questions regarding gender roles.
